APA Tripes Championship

13 triples entered the APA Triples championship held at British Sugar PC on Sunday 7th September.

The morning was split into 3 leagues previously drawn online. 3 timed games were played to get the teams seeded for the afternoons play, the top 8 went into the main, with the remaining 5 going into the plate.

In the Plate final, Jes Fry, Russel Morris & John Monk were convincing winners 13-4 against Mick Whymer, John Cross & Danny Watkins. 

In the Picture from Left – Right – John Monk, Russel Morris, Jes Fry, Danny Watkins, Mick Whymer and unfortunately John was out of shot.

In the main, Phil Boarder’s team beat Pete Hardy’s team 13-9. James Shreeve’s  team had a very close match against Tony Morgan’s team, winning 13-12. Dean Wright’s team beat Serge Raja’s team 13-8, and Steve Welford’s team won a close contest against Dan Cooper’s team 13-11.

In the Semi-Finals, Steve Welford, Anni Welford, Simon Doble & Michael Neal romped away to beat Dean Wright, Josh Wilcox & Mark Linsdell 13-0. In the other semi, James Shreeve, Dan Shevlin & Luisa D’Esposito beat Phil Boarder, Marion Halsey & Andy Wilson 13-5.

The Final was a cagey affair, but Steve, Anni & Simon, with Michael giving support from the sidelines ran out 13-5 winners.
